Sam Gilbert Medical Fundraising.

In April 2024 I, Sam Gilbert, director of Chunky Frog, was given the life changing diagnosis of Stage IV Bowel Cancer with a tumour in my large intestine, liver and lymph node issues in my abdomen and chest.

I’ve been told my treatment is management and not curable but I will keep fighting to get to a point of NED (no evidence of disease) as I take my meds, exercise, diet and continue to work and support my family.

I am currently on a FOLFOXIRI chemotherapy regime which is every 2 weeks and I also take blood thinners twice every day (injected in my belly) to keep at bay blood clots which I’ve had on my lung and liver – not pleasant!

My oncologist, Dr Islam, has suggested an alternative drug called Avastin or Bevacizumab in future but this is not available on the NHS and costs a staggering £5k per month.

I am not the kind of person to accept kindness, generosity and help easily so this is a major deal for me, but I realise that my life is in other peoples’ hands and that I need to do whatever it takes, however uncomfortable, to get through this for my family and friends.

If you’d like to help fundraise in ANY way you like please fill out the form below and my family will keep you informed of any updates, ideas and help required!

Much love,

Sam x
